Professor Office Hours: 4 Resons Why You Should Be Using Them

Today I wanted to give you four reasons why you should be utilizing your professor's office hours. The professor at the beginning of the semester they have you a syllabus. And on the syllabus they had their office hours. In fact, that was probably the first thing they pointed out.
Office hours are great because your professor is telling you that this is the time where I am available for any questions you have about the course work, or about anything really.
The first reason you should be utilizing your professor's office hours is because they are in an advisory position.
They can advise you. Particularly if you hare majoring in that particular department, and if what they are teaching has to do directly with your major they will be able to advise you on what classes to take based upon the career goals you have. So, a fantastic resource there.
The second reason is because they can offer assignment help.
They are willing to answer questions, give clarification, give direction as far as how to better understand the material. So, if you need help on an assignment, they can give it to you, and personally and individually.
Number 3, they can help you prepare for your tests.
That's awesome They can help you understand a difficult topic better because they can spend more times then they had in class to explain those topics in a variety of different ways to help you understand. They can give you more practice on those topics.
And, also, [they} can give you immediate feedback since you are working with the professor. They can let you know where you need to improve. Awesome resource.
Lastly, number 4 is because you want to build a relationship of trust.
This is especially true if you are planning on going on to graduate school. In academia, a professor's recommendation for graduate school is going to mean more than a previous employer because the professor has been to graduate school before. They've been there, done that.
So, building that relationship of trust is going to make a great opportunity to get a good letter of recommendation from them. Not only that but, professors like it when students take an interest in what they are teaching. So, it probably won't hurt your grade either if you build that relationship with them.

Number 1, they are an adviser.
Number 2, they can give you assignment help.
Number 3, they can help you prepare for tests.
Number 4, you can build a relationship of trust with them.
